It is with great joy that we can announce another small step in creating complimentary services to Zimanga Game Reserve with the opening of the Zimanga Beach Penthouse in Ballito. Zimanga joined with some of the country’s top developers to completely rebuild and renovate this beachfront penthouse of nearly 4000 ft3, occupying the top floor of one of Ballito’s most sought-after addresses. It offers three spacious and luxurious en-suite rooms, all with ocean views, and with an airy open-build kitchen, dining and living room area, all scattered with magnificent wall art of photos taken in Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago.
Several sliding doors lead out onto an expansive and encompassing verandah, with sweeping 180-degree views overlooking the warm Indian Ocean and some of the Dolphin Coast’s most popular beaches right on your doorstep.
This outside patio with comfortable loungers and custom-built dining and corner sets is an outdoor lover’s paradise, with the constant sound of breaking waves lapping the shoreline, the smell of salt on the breeze and the feeling of warm sunlight on your skin. From here you can enjoy soaking up the sun whilst reading a book or enjoying a glass of wine, all whilst keeping an eye out for dolphins and surfers riding the same waves, or spot migrating humpback whales breaching deeper out to sea. For those who enjoy outdoor cooking there is a state-of-the-art BBQ centrally placed to keep the conversation going whilst grilling or searing up a storm, and an optional concierge service can keep your pantry and bar well-stocked according to your preferences. Should you be in a relaxed holiday mood and not in the mood for cooking, Ballito has a collection of some of KZN’s finest restaurants, or you can have a private chef visit the Penthouse and prepare artistic and tasteful three-course meals right in your home.
The apartment offers direct access onto the renowned Ballito promenade where you can enjoy oceanside walks or explore the marine life along its numerous rocks, pools, beaches and gullies, and is conveniently situated a minute or two’s walk between the quieter Grannies Pool or the famous and popular Willard’s Beach, also home to the world’s longest running surfing competition, annually attracting several of the world’s top surfers.
A local company Tidal Tao offers the options of guided snorkelling along some of the Dolphin Coast’s best hidden snorkelling hotspots, with the adventurous having the choice to snorkel at night to search for nocturnal sea creatures like morays and octopi, or with the aid of UV lamps view the bioluminescence offered by coral. Please note this needs to be arranged well in advance and is completely dependent on weather and tides. And for those eager to see even more of what this beautiful part of the world has to offer you can hop onto Zimanga’s private aircraft and take a flight along the magnificent face of the Drakensberg escarpment and its collection of awe-inspiring cliffs and peaks contained in this World Heritage Site, even going as far as the Tugela Falls which with a combined drop of 3110ft (948m) is now, according to the World Waterfall Database, classified as the tallest waterfall in the world. Please note that the mountain images were taken on hiking photographic expeditions into the mountains and the fit can extend their stay in SA join Mark Dumbleton on one of these experiences into the Drakensberg range through direct arrangement.
If swimming or mountains are not your thing, you can also choose to get in a helicopter or microlight for a coastal flip, or just lie back and enjoy the unmatched privacy and space that the Penthouse has to offer.
The Penthouse is conveniently situated about 25 minutes from King Shaka International Airport, with a slightly longer distance from Virginia Airport, and is the perfect private hideaway for those seeking to start their Zimanga experience on a high, or to take a well-deserved rest towards the end of your trip before taking on the flights back home.
