Game Drives

Game Drives

Game drives in our 9-seater Land Cruiser can be offered from the lodge and is the ideal vehicle to explore the massive tract of land under the Sanctuary’s conservation.

The Park has an incredible variety of habitat types from mangrove-lined beaches, dunes, forest, miombo woodland, and seasonal freshwater pans all part of its sandy soil structure.

This is a dry area, and wildlife numbers are not nearly as high as most African National Parks and reserves, but there is a lovely variety of seldom-seen species that inhabit the area

Several small species of antelope abound in the area, from grey duiker, red duiker, steenbok and suni, whilst larger species include eland, wildebeest, zebra, kudu, nyala, waterbuck, reedbuck, impala as well as vervet and secretive simango monkeys and red squirrels.

For patient observers there is a plethora of terrestrial bird species in these habitats though photography might not always be easy due to the thick vegetation.  One of our most enjoyable drives include heading up to World’s View for a sundowner which offers magnificent views over the islands and network of sandbanks and channels that surround the area
